02 Jul SunnyMac Donates Solar System to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Delaware
Thanks to the incredible generosity of SunnyMac Solar, our House is now home to a brand-new solar energy system. Earlier this summer, CEO Matt McFadden and the SunnyMac team joined us for the installation celebration and presented a beautiful plaque, marking not just a gift of clean energy, but a long-lasting commitment to the families who walk through our doors every day.
With 98 panels generating over 38,000 kWh annually, this system will save our House nearly $5,800 each year, enough to provide 1,500 overnight stays for families needing comfort, care, and community during their child’s treatment.
The Impact at a Glance
- Annual Energy Production: 38,710 kWh
Enough to power approximately 3 average homes for an entire year. - Estimated Annual Energy Savings: ~$5,800
These savings can be redirected toward supporting families—helping cover essential services when they’re needed most. - First-Year Impact Equivalent:
Offsets the cost of 1,500 overnight stays for families seeking support and comfort during their child’s treatment. - Annual Carbon Offset:
Prevents 4 metric tons of CO₂ emissions each year—the equivalent of planting over 450 trees annually.
A Legacy of Sustainability and Service
Over the system’s expected 25+ year lifespan, this donation is projected to deliver:
- 967,750+ kWh of clean energy
- $145,000+ in total energy savings
- 685 metric tons of CO₂ offset
