Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Delaware serves families with seriously ill children by enabling access to medical care and providing a place that offers comfort, hope, and togetherness.

RMHCGDE’s programs and support services include our 50-bedroom Ronald McDonald House, two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, and two hospitality cart programs.

Ten Steps to Cross the Fundraising Finish Line

  1. Personalize your fundraising page. Tell everyone why the cause and organization are important to you.
  2. Include a meaningful photo. A picture is worth a thousand words.
  3. Set your fundraising goal. Get the ball rolling by making a donation to your page- it doesn’t have to be big!
  4. Start with your inner circle via email. Be sure to include:
  5. Then target your broader network on social media. Explain why the cause matters to you.
  6. Fundraisers who link their pages to a Facebook fundraiser earn on average SIX TIMES MORE donations than those who only use their Classy fundraising page. Learn how to quickly create a Facebook fundraiser that is automatically linked to your existing fundraising page.
  7. Consider making weekly mini-goals: For example, if your goal is $1,000, try to raise $250 each week- and ask your supporters to help.
  8. Follow up. Share the progress that you’ve made toward your fundraising goal. Keep your appeal fresh by changing up each post with different information.
  9. Countdown to the deadline. When you point out that time is running out to give, your appeal becomes more urgent and compelling. Be sure to emphasize how close you are to your goal.
  10. Show your gratitude: maintain excitement by thanking donors on your fundraising page and/or social media.

How to talk about RMHC Greater Delaware

The mission of the RMHCGDE is at the core of why you’re fundraising. Here are some key talking points about the House so you can let your supporters know how their dollars are helping.

5K Photo

The House provides a “home-away-from-home” for families of seriously ill children who need a place to stay while their child receives treatment at an area hospital. A family may stay at our House whether the child is hospitalized or receiving outpatient treatment.

Each family that checks into the House has a private guest room and access to amenities such as laundry facilities, a fitness center, four different playrooms, multiple kitchens, a movie theater, and an outdoor playground. A hot meal is served every evening.

RMHCGDE also operates two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms® in Delaware, located in the Women and Children’s Center at Christiana Care’s Newark Campus and in Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware. Family Rooms provide a quiet, peaceful space where families can rest and unwind- located just steps away from neonatal and pediatric intensive care units.
