04 Nov Ian’s Salute to Bravery
Ian’s Journey
Ian has a rare musculoskeletal disorder. His journey has been a long one, with more than 20 surgeries and rigorous physical therapy.
In order to be closer to Ian’s medical team in Wilmington, DE, his family made the decision to move from Texas to Maryland. During visits to the hospital, he and his family have become “frequent flyers” of the Ronald McDonald House. “It’s a home-coming of sorts for Ian”, says his mother. “ He is beloved by the staff and volunteers and has fun catching up with the other kids he knows from previous stays at the House.”
Today, Ian is 12 years old and thriving! His quick mind big personality wins him friends and admirers everywhere. His dream is to become an Eagle Scout. Currently a First Class Scout, and soon to become a Star Scout, he’s well on his way to achieving Eagle Scout status.
In the photo below, he is saluting his grandfather, who served in the Navy on the USS Bennington. He gave this photo as a gift to his grandfather on Veteran’s Day.
As we approach Veteran’s Day 2016, we salute Ian’s bravery to live life to the fullest and we salute the bravery of those everywhere who have served and sacrificed for our country.
