07 Dec It Makes You Feel Less Alone
Malachi and His Family Stayed at the Ronald McDonald House this Summer
Since he was diagnosed with dwarfism nine years ago, Malachi and his family family have been coming to Nemours/A. I. duPont Hospital for Children. Only recently when he needed surgery did they start to stay at the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware.
During their month away from home, Malachi, along with his mom and dad, used many of the amenities the House has to offer.
When he was out of the hospital and in rehab, his favorite part of the House was the Teen Room where he could hang out and play video games. His parents enjoyed the comfortable living room, because “it felt very welcoming and homey.”
Malachi currently has external fixators, but has recently taken his first step since the surgery. His mom says that he has checkups every week at the hospital while he has the fixators. And, although there are many places they could stay, they always choose to stay at the House. She told us “staying in the House makes you feel less alone and it is so nice to be with other families during these times.”
