15 May Meg Frizzola
Dr. Meg Frizzola has devoted her life to serving the pediatric community locally, nationally, and internationally. Dr. Frizzola is the Chief of Medical Staff at Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware Valley, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, and a member of the Delaware Valley Executive Cabinet. In her role as Chief of Medical Staff, she oversees developing a strategy and collaborating with hospital leadership and medical staff to advance key components of the Delaware Valley Strategy for achieving Clinical and Academic Preeminence.
Dr. Frizzola is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Frizzola completed her pediatric residency and critical care fellowship at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware and advanced to the position of staff intensivist at Nemours in 2009. Dr. Frizzola is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics with sub-board certifications in both pediatric critical care medicine and pediatric hospice and palliative medicine. She has completed the Leadership Academy at Thomas Jefferson University, the Physician Leadership Development Program at Nemours Children’s Health, and the Physician and Hospital Leadership Seminar Medical Executive Committee Institute. This past April she graduated from Drexel University’s Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) program. Her scholarly work includes involvement in multiple IRB studies and quality improvement projects.
Dr. Frizzola was appointed Division Chief of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in April 2016. She was appointed Department Chair, Pediatrics at Jefferson Health Northeast in May 2017, and appointed Vice Chair of Pediatrics at Jefferson Health in January 2018. In 2019, Dr. Frizzola was elected President of the Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware Valley Medical Executive Committee. In August 2019, Dr. Frizzola was appointed Interim Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware, and the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. In April of this year, Dr. Frizzola was promoted to Chief of Medical Staff, Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware.
Dr. Frizzola is currently serving as the Chair of the THRIVE Patient and Family Committee with the Society of Critical Care Medicine. She has co-authored five published manuscripts and four abstracts over the last three years. Dr. Frizzola is the Co-PI on an NIH ECHO PASC Study which is a Multi-Center Observational Study: The RECOVER Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-Co-V-2 (PASC) Pediatric Cohort Study. Dr Frizzola has been a key contributor to the sepsis collaborative across the enterprise at Nemours Children’s Health and nationally with IPSO (Improving Pediatric Sepsis Outcomes).
Dr. Frizzola has provided exemplary care for the pediatric intensive care and palliative care patients and their families while maintaining a strong focus on faculty training. She is recognized and admired by her colleagues in many disciplines for her diligent attention to their continuing education. Dr. Frizzola was the 2017 recipient of a Presidential Citation from the Society of Critical Care Medicine, for members who have made extraordinary contributions of time, energy, and resources to SCCM. In 2021, Dr. Frizzola was awarded the Physician Excellence Award for Physician Leadership at Nemours Children’s Health.
