NEW NAME – SAME MISSION – EXPANDING REACH
Our name has changed but our mission remains the same.
The Ronald McDonald House of Delaware®, Inc. (RMHDE) is now Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Greater Delaware, Inc. (RMHCGDE)!
The new name reflects the range of programs and support services provided across Delaware and the surrounding communities, including our 50-bedroom Ronald McDonald House, two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, and two hospitality cart programs.
Becoming a Charities chapter will allow us to bring more programming to more families in need and expand the delivery of our mission.
This change will also expand our fundraising territory, providing more opportunities for the community to support RMHCGDE programs.
However, the reach of our services knows no boundaries. In a typical year, 24% of guest families come from Delaware (primarily Kent and Sussex counties), 22% from Pennsylvania, 18% from New Jersey, 32% from other U.S. states, and 4% from international countries.

Why the name change?
The Ronald McDonald House of Delaware is now Ronald McDonald Charities of Greater Delaware. Becoming a Charities chapter will allow us to expand our reach and provide even more support to families in need.
This change will comprise two key elements:
- The opportunity to add future programming and expand our reach.
- The expansion of our fundraising territory, providing more opportunities for the community to support RMHCGDE programs.
Does this change how my donation will be used?
No. There are no changes to how donations will be processed and used. Your gift will continue to support families and keep them together and close to the care they need. Curious about how this may affect your charitable tax deductions? Our Tax Identification Number will remain the same, so you shouldn’t expect any difficulties when it comes to listing your 2023 donations to RMHCGDE, even if you gave before and/or after our name change.

What are RMHCGDE’s programs?
- A 50-bedroom Ronald McDonald House that provides a “home-away-from-home” for families of seriously ill children who are receiving treatment at area hospitals.
- Two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms that offer a comfortable and supportive space for families to relax and regroup while their child is receiving treatment at a hospital.
- Two hospitality cart programs or “Carts with a Heart” that offer complimentary snacks and activities during the wait for a loved one receiving care. The Carts with a Heart are based out of our Family Room locations within our partner hospitals.
Will more programs be added?
Becoming a Charities Chapter brings the exciting opportunity to expand programming in the future.
