10 Feb Shamrock Shakes: A Sweet Treat with Impact

This year, for the first time since 2017, McDonald’s is bringing back a national Shamrock Shake promotion that will directly support RMHC chapters! From February 10 to March 23, participating McDonald’s restaurants will donate $.25 from every Shamrock Shake sold to local RMHC Chapters, ensuring that families with sick children continue to have a place to call home near the care they need. 100% of donations will support RMHC and its network of local Chapters associated with each restaurant.

For RMHC Greater Delaware, this means even more support for families facing medical crises. Whether it’s providing warm meals, a comfortable place to stay, or resources to help families navigate their healthcare journey, every Shamrock Shake purchased helps make a difference right here in our community.

McDonald’s and its franchisees have supported Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) since its founding on October 15, 1974. In fact, sales from a local Shamrock Shake promotion helped to open the very first Ronald McDonald House.

The mission began when the daughter of a Philadelphia Eagles player was being treated for Leukemia. Together with a local McDonald’s Owner and Operator Hal Rosen, McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Eagles, the family raised enough funds through Shamrock Shake sales to help open the first Ronald McDonald House as a way to support families during their child’s healthcare journey.

Dr. Audrey Evans, a pioneer in pediatric oncology, played a crucial role in establishing the first Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia. Her vision continues to inspire our mission today. Since then, RMHC has grown into a global organization with over 1,000 programs in more than 60 countries and regions around the world, supporting millions of families every year.
