“You treat us like family, You treat everyone like family”

Brenda and her seven year old son David have been staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware on and off for the past two years. David has ADHD and autism, and sees multiple doctors at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children for different cardiology, gastroenterology, and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) diagnoses.

Brenda and David originally came to the House two years ago, when the Greenwoods made the hour and fifteen minute trip from Hereford, Pennsylvania for David to see a neurologist at duPont Hospital for Children for a 48 hour electroencephalogram (EEG). Brenda estimates that she and David have stayed with us over ten times since 2012!

David loves coming to the House to interact and play with the other children staying here. Adds Brenda, “he loves not having to get up so early [to drive to the hospital]!” David loves staying at the House so much that he used his birthday money to buy gifts for children staying at the House. He told Brenda, “I always get [toys], why can’t we give them toys too?”

Adds Brenda: “the House has impacted us greatly – it saves us from having to drive far, it gives us somewhere to sleep and somewhere safe to be. It’s close to the hospital, and it makes us feel like we’re at home.”
